Our R&D offer in Mechanical Engineering
Projects are becoming more and more urgent and their launch must be done in time in order not to lose market share. The functions of the product must, in this sense, be generally operational as soon as the prototype is made.
Innovative solutions are emerging through a systemic approach of functional analysis that provides a matrix view of possible variables. | The prototype is brought to a pre-controlled level of performance and durability through careful conception and sizing followed by appropriate functional simulations. |
Salihu Engineering places particular emphasis on the energy efficiency and investment & operating costs of each system so that the added value is perceived both qualitatively and financially through a maximized operating margin. | By providing innovative, complete and optimized solutions, we will help you ensure that your new products reach the market quickly and efficiently. |
1. Conception
Complete definition of the final functionalities requirements of the product by its specifications describing in particular the input and output values as well as the constraints and the environment in which it will be used. | Functional analysis and research of variants for each system function (example of bicycle functions: rolling, braking, turning, transmitting force and driving torque, stabilizing,...). |
Scoring of variants according to predefined weightings (Example of weighting criteria: cost price, durability, measurable quality/performance, maintenance, appearance,...). | Validation of conceptual variants for each system function by the customer. |
2. Development
2.1 The 3D Modeling and simulation of the selected variant (Solid Works 2019)
Sizing of the elements and modelling according to the input forces and physical phenomena generated on each function. Each part is modelled in such a way as to fulfil its function as simply as possible. In order to reduce wasteful costs, superfluous machinings are eliminated and care is taken to ensure that it can be manufactured in the most conventional and rational way possible.
Analysis of heat exchanges & pressurized elements, control of dilations, induced stresses and optimization of adjustment tolerances accordingly. Life time duration analysis by simulating a number of limit cycles followed by physical optimizations accordingly. | Finite element analysis (FEA) of the distribution of internal stresses and deformations generated and then physical optimizations accordingly. |
Modal analysis and technical optimizations to limit their impact on the functioning and lifetime of the system. | Customer validation of the modelling phase before 2D drawing. |
2.2 The 2D Drawing
Optimal tolerances according to the ISO standard, taking care to avoid any extreme or unnecessary tolerances in order to reduce manufacturing costs. | Virtual kinematics videos of assembly/disassembly of sub-assemblies. Reading possible on tablets, smartphones or computer to optimize assembly/adjustment time and costs. |
Assembly plans and lists of preventive and planned maintenance parts. | Customer validation of the drawing phase before internal manufacturing or out-sourcing. |
3. Supplier bid requests and their evaluations
Competitive bidding and requests for bids from potential suppliers. | Analysis of offers and comparisons of costs, deadlines and other services provided for the production of the prototype and for mass production. |
Validation of the supplier and/or in-house manufacturing according to costs generated, quality, lead times, internal strategy or any other relevant criteria. | Customer validation of the drawing phase before in-house production or out-sourcing. |
4. Control and testing of prototype functions
Control of the inputs and outputs of each function and optimizations if necessary. | Characterization of the global system and completion of failure mode and cause analysis (FMECA) |
Monitoring of the evolution under end-use conditions over a representative period of time. | Client final validation of the prototype. |
5. Full report of the mandate
The report ensures a quick and global review of the project. Its content is such that it makes it possible to envisage a possible effective continuation of the project. It contains in particular the key points of each R&D phase including functional analysis, 3D models, drawing, dimensioning calculations and finite element analyses, user manuals and the FMECA as well as any other information relevant to turnkey use. Delivered in the form of a USB key or other support according to convenience.
